How to be a good teacher?
A good teacher is a valuable asset of our society.He is a torch-bearer of truth and justice.He is the builder of nation.The key development of a nation depends more on its teachers. If the teachers of the country are developed,the nation will go ahead fast.But how to be a good teacher?
To be a great teacher one should have the following three major elements:
1.SK- Subject Knowledge
2.PK-Pedagogical Knowledge
3.MC-Moral Character
Subject knowledge is a major quality of a teacher.Without deep subject knowledge one can't teach well.A teacher should learn pros and cons of the subject that he teaches the students.
A good teacher is a good learner, too.Actually deep learning starts in teaching life for a teacher.When a teacher gets his preparation to teach his students, he tries to learn his topics very well so that he can deliver his lectures properly.Without taking good preparation teacher can't perform his lesson very well.
One can be appointed as a teacher in any institution.But to build up him or her as a real teacher ,he needs to study hard to maintain his classes well.
Pedagogical knowledge means the approaches of quality education.If a teacher has vast subject knowledge,he won't be able to teach his students without applying some techniques.So,teachers should be well trained before entering his profession.Moreover,they will find out the new ways and method to make his lesson more effective.There are a lot of teaching philosophies from where a teacher can be benefited.
Suppose, a teacher has both subject and pedagogical knowledge but he has no morality.Will he be able to impart quality education?Definitely,he won't be able to serve as a good teacher.Morality will protect his knowledge from misuse.As for example, you have honey in a pot which has no cover-cap.What will happen in your honey pot?Obviously,it will be poisonous by flies or virus germs.It's same to a teacher.
If there is no morality in a teacher,his vast knowledge will not come into effect.
